A required .DLL file CRLCTL80.DLL was not found

  • When attempting to open picture files (which are not in JPEG format) an alert appears with the message ‘Error Starting Program. A required .DLL file CRLCTL80.DLL was not found’. As far as I can see, this appears to be a problem with the CorelDraw program. The computer is running Windows 98 SE.

You are correct in the diagnosis that the error is being caused by CorelDraw. When you attempt to open the picture file, which presumably is in the CorelDraw format, CorelDraw attempts to load so the file can be viewed. However, as this file is missing CorelDraw does not open and is returning the error message. To fix this problem, the simplest solution is reinstall CorelDraw, as this will recopy all the program files to your computer theoretically, including the missing CRLCTL80.DLL file. I doubt you would be able to find this file through any other means, as a search through Google on the file name does not yield many hits.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
