Search within custom file types in Windows XP

  • A good tool within Windows XP is the Search feature which allows you to search for a word or phrase within files. This is useful when searching for text within Word documents or text files. However, not many people know that this feature does not search within all file types. For example: if you have written a PHP script and saved the file with the .PHP extension, Windows will not search within that file type, even though the content of the file is text. If you regularly save files containing text with other file extensions, it can be very useful to be able to search within these files. To make Windows search within certain file types, there are a few methods you can employ. These are detailed at support.microsoft.com/kb/309173. id=”more-1470″>

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
