C:WindowsSystem32Autoexec.Nt
-
After installing Windows XP Service Pack 2 whenever I attempt to run DOS programs, such as Band in a Box, the following message appears: ‘16 Bit Windows Subsystem C:WindowsSystem32Autoexec.Nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Windows applications. Choose Close to terminate the application’. The computer is running Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, and Norton Antivirus which are all regularly updated.
You will be glad to know this is a relatively common problem when running older applications on Windows XP and is an issue which has been recognised by Microsoft. To fix this problem, follow the instructions at the Microsoft Knowledge Base article: support.microsoft.com/kb/324767 .
