    The hard drive in my son’s computer was recently upgraded, so I had to reload all software onto the new drive, including Norton SystemWorks. Immediately after SystemWorks was installed, the dial-up connection window appeared and continues to appear every few seconds. The fix suggested by the Knowledge Base at Norton, is to enable ‘Never dial a connection’ in the Internet Options (which is a pain), or to delete a value in the registry (which is not present in my registry).     Recently my computer was upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP, and a new hard drive was installed. I asked the computer shop to do a clean install of Windows XP on the new hard drive (making this the new system C drive), and make the current (old) hard drive the F drive. The logic behind this move was so all my existing files would be kept intact (on the F drive) and I can transfer the wanted files across to my new (C) drive. However, I cannot locate my old Outlook Express email and address book. Where are these files located? (more…)

    My computer hard drive contains a large number of digital images that have been downloaded from my digital camera. I am aware it is important to backup these images, but copying the files to CD is both a time-consuming and cumbersome process. Can you recommend an easier and more efficient way to make backup copies of the images, and other important data on my computer? Another problem I have encountered is when attempting to access a CD which contains images (copied from my other computer) a message appears saying ‘D: is not accessible. Incorrect function’. The computer is running Windows XP. (more…)
