Outlook Express message window minimised
-
Since upgrading to Outlook Express 6, every time I open, reply or otherwise deal with an email message, the message window initially opens in the minimised state. Even after maximising the message window, the next time I open that same message (or any other message) the window initially appears in the minimised state. This will occur irrespective of how many times I maximise the message window. How can I get the window to always open in the maximised state? The computer is running Windows 98.
This is an issue with programs such as Outlook Express when using older versions of Windows. I recently answered a similar question, regarding Outlook Express email messages opening in very small windows (http://www.siliconkid.com.au/index.php/skarchive/ viewquestion/1580) The same procedure for resolving this issue can be applied to resolving your issue. Windows cannot remember that the email window has been maximised, but Windows can remember the size (i.e. dimensions) of the window if manually resized to a larger size. So, open an email message. As per your description, the message should open in the minimised state. Right-click on the minimised window in the taskbar and select ‘Restore’. Then, manually resize the window (by clicking and dragging the edges of the window) so the window is resized to full screen (essentially mimicking the size of a maximised window). Then, click the X in the top right hand corner of the window to close the window. Now, whenever you open any email message the window should be at that size you just configured.
