Backup Favorites folder

  • How can I save and backup my Internet Explorer favourites? At the moment I cannot even print the list, let alone backup to a CD.

You will be glad to hear this is a relatively easy task. The Internet Explorer favorites for your user is stored in a ‘Favorites’ folder. If you are running Windows XP, open Windows Explorer (or My Computer). We first need to make sure the viewing of hidden files and folders is enabled. Go to the ‘Tools’ menu > ‘Folder Options’. In the window that appears, click the ‘View’ tab. Enable ‘Show hidden files and folders’ and then click OK. Now, navigate to the following folder:
    C:Documents and SettingsYour User Name
In here you will notice a folder named ‘Favorites’. Open the folder to verify that your favorites are located inside the folder. Then, to backup your Favorites you just need to copy the ‘Favorites’ folder to a CD.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
