Recovering My Documents

I recently downloaded some file sharing software and accidentally copied the ‘My Documents’ folder to the shared directory in the file sharing software. Subsequently the file sharing software was removed, but this also removed the My Documents folder! Completing a System Restore does not recover the My Documents. Can you help me get these files back? The computer is running Windows XP.

Saving attachments very slow

Recently saving attachments from Outlook Express is woefully slow. For example, a 28 KB attachment took about one and a half minutes to save! The computer is a Celeron 467 MHz with 256 MB RAM running with Norton Antivirus 2006, Ad-Aware, and ZoneAlarm running Windows XP Home Edition. How can I speed up the process of saving attachments?

Changed email address

When I first setup my ISP email in Outlook Express I was told to use the address format: XXXX@ADSL.on.net . However, Internode subsequently advised me to use a different email address: XXXX@internode.on.net . Even though I have changed the email address in Outlook Express, when friends reply to emails the ADSL version of the email address still appears as the sender. Meanwhile, I have advised my friends to use the Internode address so I receive the emails twice, once on the ADSL address and once on the Internode address. How can I resolve this problem?

Firefox tab history

If you use the Firefox web browser (www.mozilla.org/firefox) you might have experienced the situation where you close a browser tab displaying a particular web page, only to find you have accidentally closed the wrong one! Fortunately, Firefox 2.0 has a neat feature which contains a history of your most recently opened tabs, allowing you to restore the tab. This feature can be accessed through the ‘History’ menu > ‘Recently Closed Tabs’. (more…)
