System Information tells me that the computer’s total physical memory is 256 MB, and the available physical memory is 41.03 Mb. How can I free up more memory? I run Disk Defragmenter regularly and have 39% of 20 GB free disk space. (more…)

I have encountered some problems with the Microsoft Office. Some Excel functions will not work, Word scrolling and printing is painfully slow, and other Office programs also run very slowly. The version of Office I have is the Student and Teacher Edition, which can be loaded onto three computers. The software works perfectly on the other computers, so I am guessing the problem is something with Windows XP on this computer. However, can this be corrected without losing my configuration and other settings? I am particularly wary of reinstalling Windows only to find my network configuration has been lost, as this is quite difficult to setup. (more…)

I am a big fan of the Mozilla Firefox internet browser and use this as my default browser on all my computers. Firefox is an alternative web browser and can be used instead of other browsers such as Internet Explorer. Firefox is open-source software and has some great features and is quite standards compliant, helping to improve your web experience and display of web pages. The latest version of Firefox, named Firefox 2, was recently released. I strongly encourage all users to try Firefox and judge for themselves. Two toolbars are installed in Internet Explorer: Oemji Bar and the Google Toolbar. When I click on either toolbar a long list of WWW addresses appear, many of which I do not want to be saved. When I try to delete these by highlighting the entries and pressing DEL they are not deleted. How do I delete these web addresses? (more…)
