RoboEx32.Dll cannot be found
By skid on October 30, 2006 in Windows XP | No Comments
When attempting to run a program called Spam Buster a message appears saying the file ‘RoboEx32.Dll’ cannot be found. I searched Google and found the file probably comes from the WindowsSystem directory, but wasn’t sure whether the file is legit. I have tried reinstalling Spam Buster several times but this has not resolved the issue. The computer is running Windows XP. (more…)

Immediately delete files
By skid on October 23, 2006 in Tip of the Week | No Comments
Occasionally you may wish to delete files without going through the Windows Recycling Bin. This can be a lot quicker as you can immediately delete the files rather than sending them to the Recycling Bin and then having to empty the Recycling Bin to reclaim the disk space. To bypass the Recycling Bin and permanently delete a file or folder, select the file or folder you wish to remove and hold the SHIFT key and then press the DEL key. A warning will appear confirming you wish to delete the file or folder. Click Yes to proceed. However, be very careful when using this procedure! As this procedure immediately deletes the selection and bypasses the Recycling Bin, any files or folders you delete in this manner will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. So, use with caution! (more…)

Limit downloaded message size in Outlook

When using Outlook Express I was able to set my computer to only download emails smaller than e.g. 200 Kb from the server, thus speeding up the download process in slow dial up areas (e.g. radio phones). Having switched to mobile broadband and Outlook for my emails (with Windows XP Pro), I would like to use this arrangement when in more remote dial up areas - but Outlook does not seem to have this facility. How can I do this? (more…)

Ordering files
By skid on October 23, 2006 in Windows XP | No Comments
When burning a CD or DVD of photos from a particular folder in Windows Explorer, the order of the photos on the disk reverts to alphabetical order instead of the order originally arranged in the folder. This makes the slideshow from the disk seem very random. Is there any way of ensuring the order of the photos in my folder is duplicated exactly on the disk that I burn? My operating system is Windows XP and I am using Nero to burn the CDs. (more…)

ZoneAlarm Windows 98 support
By skid on October 23, 2006 in Security and malware | No Comments
My computer is running Windows 98 with ZoneAlarm Free. When I completed my most recent ZoneAlarm update a message appeared saying the update could not load because ZoneAlarm no longer supports Windows 98. Does this mean I cannot protect my computer for free, and I need to update to a more modern version of Windows? Does this also mean if I purchased an internet security program I would not be protected, unless I am running the latest version of Windows? (more…)
