AVG Antivirus Free remaining free?

Recently I received a message from AVG Grisoft informing me the free edition of their software will cease. I really like AVG Antivirus and do not want to lose the software. Can you recommend any other antivirus programs?
As far as I am aware, AVG are continuing to offer their AVG Antivirus Free edition. The email you received may have been informing you that support for AVG Antivirus 7.1 Free will cease on 18th February 2007. However, Grisoft are offering a new version of their free antivirus solution (AVG Antivirus 7.5 Free). This new version can be downloaded from the AVG Antivirus Free website at: free.grisoft.com . If you are still running version 7.1 then I strongly suggest you update to the latest version to remain protected. You can find out which version you are running at the moment by opening the AVG Control Center and go to the ‘Information’ menu > ‘About AVG Free’.

The story thus far...This website is provided as a free resource to the community. However, when you consider the hosting fees together with other costs (including time) it ends up costing several hundred dollars to operate this site.
