Memtest86 memory tester

  • If your computer is crashing or freezing and reinstalling Windows doesn’t resolve the problem, the problem may be related to a hardware fault. One of the more common hardware faults is memory (RAM), but most people don’t know how to test memory. Fortunately there is an excellent program called Memtest86, which can test computer memory for problems or faults. Two versions are available: the original Memtest86 (www.memtest86.com) which is no longer actively maintained, and Memtest86+ (www.memtest.org) which is actively maintained.
