Office 2007 command reference

Changing from Office 2003 to Office 2007 is quite a steep learning curve, given the completely new interface in Office 2007. If you find yourself spending hours trying to locate particular commands in Office 2007 perhaps the Microsoft interactive guides and mapping workbooks will assist. These will help guide you through the new locations of commands in Office 2007, and also provide a list of all commands in Office 2003 with their location in Office 2007. Startup entries re-enabling themselves

Following your advice to another reader about unticking entries in the msconfig start-up list, I attempted the same to make my computer boot faster. However, the next day I found the disabled entries had re-enabled themselves. How can I stop the entries re-enabling themselves? The computer is running Windows XP. (more…)

Ever since upgrading to Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.1 when opening PDF files within Internet Explorer the following message appears: ?There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again? which is followed by the message ?Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item?. That said, some PDF files on websites can be properly accessed as can PDF files attached to email messages. This problem does not occur when using Mozilla Firefox, but I prefer Internet Explorer and thus would like to resolve this problem. (more…)

On starting Windows the following message appears: ?Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience?. After clicking OK to accept the message the computer works normally. How can I stop this message appearing on startup? (more…)

Internet Explorer Quick Tabs

Internet Explorer 7 has a very neat feature called “Quick Tabs”. By clicking the Quick Tabs button (which looks like a small tab with four squares, next to the first tab) or pressing CTRL + Q all your tabs will be displayed in a tile configuration, showing their window contents. This makes identifying the different tabs an easy process, also allowing you to select and make a particular tab active. Be aware, the Quick Tabs feature and button is only available when you have more than one tab open, as Quick Tabs is superfluous if you do not have multiple tabs open. (more…)
