I have two phone lines, consisting of a dedicated fax line and a separate phone line (for normal voice phone calls). The fax line is connected to a computer, running WinFax Pro to receive faxes. Fax calls work perfectly, and the faxes are successfully received on the computer. However, when a voice call comes through the fax line (by mistake) this causes all sorts of the problems. It seems the computer does not know how to handle the voice call, and WinFax reports an error which prevents any other incoming faxes from being received. How can I fix WinFax so a mistaken voice call does not cause the entire system to fail? The computer is running Windows XP. (more…)

After highlighting text to be replaced within Word 2003 and typing the replacement text, or using CTRL-V to paste replacement text, the highlighted text is not replaced. Instead, the next text is inserted after the highlighted text. Interestingly enough, this problem also occurred when I had Office 2003 installed on my previous computer, before transferring the software to my current computer. After Office 2003 has been installed on the computer it works properly for a month or so, but then this problem occurs. This does not occur in other programs such as Internet Explorer when typing messages for my Yahoo Mail account. Have I accidentally pressed a wrong button somewhere along the line, which triggers this behaviour, or is there something wrong with my copy of Office? (more…)
