Customising the Windows Vista Taskbar

Windows Vista allows the user a large degree of customisation of the taskbar and Start menu, allowing the user to add and remove elements in both these areas. The settings for the taskbar and Start menu are somewhat hidden, and are accessible by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting “Properties”. In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window that appears, you can change all the various settings for both these items.

Computer Intermittently Sleeps

My computer intermittently decides to enter sleep mode and this does not seem to be related to any particular program running on the computer. I cannot wake the computer using any combination of keystrokes or mouse movements, and I usually need to turn the computer off and on at the power point to restore operation. Disabling all the power management options within the Power Options control panel does not make any difference. I have scanned the computer using NOD32 antivirus together with Ad-Aware and Spybot, so I don’t think there is anything nasty on the computer. Windows XP has been updated with all the latest service packs. Is there anything you can suggest to stop this random sleeping of the computer? (more…)

Error on Page

I am unable to logon to some web pages, as in the bottom left hand corner a message appears saying “Error on page”. How can I fix this problem? The computer is running Windows XP.” (more…)
