    I often download large MP3 files (70 ? 80 MB) of talks and speeches from the internet. Rather than wait a long time for the files to completely download is there a setting in Internet Explorer 7 so I can stream the audio while the MP3 is being downloaded? (more…)

  • Windows Defender Error found: Code 0×80244030

    When attempting to update Windows Defender a message appears saying that the definitions could not be updated with the information: “Error found: Code 0×80244030″. Reinstalling Windows Defender has not resolved the issue. The computer is running Windows XP. (more…)

    Continuing with the recent line of tips aimed towards Mac users, here is another tip for those who are running the latest version of Mac OS X (10.5 Leopard). While the primary function of the Spotlight search feature in Leopard is to find files and folders, this can also be used as a quick calculator. Enter a formula into the Spotlight search (e.g. 2+2) and the answer will appear in the search results. (more…)

  • Computer not restore from standby

    About two out of ten times I cannot get the computer to return from standby mode. The computer tower has green lights together with the speakers illuminating, indicating that all is go, but the monitor light remains amber and the monitor remains off. Switching the monitor off and on displays the message “Going to Sleep” which it promptly does. The only way the monitor can be revived is to restart the computer. How can I resolve this problem? The computer is running Windows XP Home Edition. (more…)
