Resolving the Slow File Transfers in Vista

  • One aspect of Windows Vista which I have found frustrating is the excruciatingly slow copying and moving of files. Should you be experiencing this same problem there is a workaround. Go to the “Start” button > “Control Panel” and open the “Program and Features” control panel (you may need to first click the “Classic View” link in the left sidebar). In the window that appears, click the “Turn Windows features on or off” in the left sidebar. In the Windows Features window which appears, untick “Remote Differential Compression”. Click OK to save and close. Check whether the problem has been resolved.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
