Vista’s lack of an up button

  • Users of Windows Vista may notice that something is missing from the toolbar in Windows Explorer – the up button, which in previous versions of Windows would take you to the previous level in the path (i.e. the parent folder). While you can jump to the parent folder by clicking its name in the address bar, I prefer the quick method of just being able to click a button. While this button is not present in Vista, you can mimic the Up function by pressing the ALT-Up Arrow key combination.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
