    Skype recently released a Skype client for the iPhone. This means that you can now make Skype to Skype free phone calls when you have 3G or (even better) wireless coverage on the iPhone. Additionally, if you have a SkypeOut account you could also make very cheap phone calls using Skype over wireless on the iPhone. The Skype client for iPhone is free and downloadable from the iTunes App Store.

    Outlook is always “Synchronising folders” (according to the status in the bottom right-hand corner of the Outlook window) which prevents Outlook from completing other activities such as sending email. Having Googled this problem it is clear that many other users experience the same issue, but there does not appear to be a clear solution. The computer is running Windows XP Home Edition. (more…)

  • Visuwords

    A very cool website which I was shown last week is Visuwords (www.visuwords.com). This is a graphical dictionary where you type in a word and it will visually show you related words together with definitions. Definitely worth a look for novelty value, if nothing else!

  • Userinit.exe Error

    Whenever I start my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop computer the message appears “userinit.exe - Application Error. The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application”. Clicking the OK button causes the desktop background to load, but there is no taskbar, Start menu, or desktop icons. The only way to access any programs is using CTRL-ALT-DEL to open the Task Manager and go to the “File” menu > “New Task”. The computer is running Windows XP Home Edition. (more…)
