Internet Explorer 8

Internet Explorer 8 was recently released and includes many new features including a new privacy mode, better performance and better rendering of web pages according to HTML standards. Internet Explorer 8 will be included in Windows 7 (the next version of Windows) and Windows Server 2008 R2. However, it is also available via download for Windows XP SP2/SP3, Windows Server 2003 SP2, and Windows Vista. You can download Internet Explorer 8 by visiting Windows Update (windowsupdate.microsoft.com).

Mysterious Emails

I have received several email bounce messages from “Mailer-Daemon” saying that a message which I sent to a particular email address has not been delivered. However, I have never sent an email to that particular address! Has someone hacked into my email account and sending messages? My computer is running Windows Vista Premium and McAfee Security Center. Expert Personal Roots

There is a very old program called Expert Personal Roots which I would like to install on my Windows XP computer. However, when I put the floppy disk into the computer a small screen appears saying “Press any key”. I press a key on the keyboard and nothing happens and the program will not proceed past this point. Can you help? (more…)

‘Sort by name’ Missing

In a previous column you outlined how to sort Internet Explorer favourites by name. However, when I go into Internet Explorer then open the “Favourites” menu and right-click on a folder to sort there is no option to “Sort by Name”. Instead the only options are: Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Rename, and Properties. The computer is running Windows XP with Internet Explorer (more…)
