Automatically Check for Driver Updates

I am interested in tuning the performance of my computer, so I am looking for a free utility that checks the computer for the latest version of drivers (for devices such as the graphics card, sound card, etc). I have Googled this query and found many utilities, but they all ask for money before doing anything. Do you have any suggestions for such utilities? Second, can you comment on whether it is worth downloading Linux and dual-booting with Windows XP? (more…)

Windows XP HAL Problems

In the near future I intend to upgrade the single-core CPU in my computer to a new dual-core CPU. However, I have read that Windows may have difficulty recognising the new CPU as it requires a different HAL to be installed on the computer. Can you advise whether this will be a problem? Links Do Not Open Correct Websites

Searching Google for specific websites returns the correct results, but when I click the link it goes to a completely different website (with a different address showing in the Firefox address bar). The computer is running Windows XP Professional with ZoneAlarm, BitDefender, and StopZilla. Additionally, I regularly use RegCure and SpeedUpMyPC to keep the system well tuned. The same issue occurs regardless of the web browser that is being used, as it also occurs in Internet Explorer. Can you provide any suggestions for the cause of this issue? (more…)

Outlook Times-Out Sending Large Emails

Outlook times-out when I try to send emails larger than 1 MB. However, I am able to receive mail of any size and have no problems sending small messages. How can I send bigger files? (more…)
