  • Bits of card appear in Hearts and Spider Solitaire

    When playing Spider Solitaire and Hearts, bits and pieces of extraneous cards appear on the screen around the active playing cards. I am unable to rid the screen of these numerous, annoying pieces until the game is complete. The computer is an AMD Athlon XP2600+ 2.09GHz, with 1024MB RAM running Windows XP Professional, with two hard drives: C (40GB) and D (120GB). (more…)

  • Unable to initialise trace logging

    I purchased The Saddle Club - Willowbrook Stables. When clicking the ‘Play Game’ button the following error message appears: ‘Unable to initialise trace logging’. The explanation on the manufacturer’s website is ‘There is no space on the hard disk. You are trying to run the game from a CD. Run the game from the computer while the CD is in the drive’. Now that I understand the problem, how do I run the game with the CD in the drive? After clicking the OK button an error appears ‘SADDLECLUB caused an invalid page fault in module SADDLECLUB.EXE’. The computer is a Pentium III 650 MHz with a 20 GB hard drive (10 GB free). (more…)

  • Microsoft Train Simulator returns to desktop

    When starting Microsoft Train Simulator the screen goes black for a few seconds and then returns to the Windows desktop. Other games, in particular Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 and Age of Empires (Age of Kings) all run ok. The computer is a Toshiba 2710XDVD laptop Pentium III 500 MHz with 128 MB RAM. Can you help?   • Graphics slow and choppy when using keyboard

    When playing games on my computer, particularly First Person Shooters, the graphics are slow and choppy whenever I press keys on the keyboard. However, if I reassign the function (for example, ‘move forward’) to the mouse then the graphics are fine. My drivers are the latest and I meet the minimum system requirements for the games. Different keyboards do not make a difference. Can you help? (more…)
