Mouse freezes computer

Whenever I move the mouse the computer freezes. Reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling Windows does not fix the problem, neither does changing the mouse. (more…)

NUM LOCK not working

Recently I purchased a wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse. However, the NUM LOCK key seems to have no effect as the keypad will not type numbers with the NUM LOCK enabled. However, the directional arrows work when NUM LOCK is disabled. Is there something I should do? (more…)

This Device Has a Problem: Code=24

The mouse connected to the serial port of my laptop computer does not work. In ‘System Information’ the details for the mouse state ‘This Device Has a Problem: Code=24 (0 ×18). This device is not present, not working properly, or does not have all the drivers installed. See your hardware documentation’. The mouse does work on other computers and is properly connected. Reinstalling the correct drivers and Windows does not fix the problem. The computer is a Digital HiNote VP laptop running Windows 98 SE. (more…)

Joystick buttons not working

Since updating the joystick driver (via an internet download) the joystick buttons and point-of-view hat no longer work. Reconfiguring the joystick via Gaming Options in the Control Panel does not help as it won’t let me configure the buttons, only the axes, throttle and POV Hat. Also, I tried to configure the joystick via the setup option within two different flight simulator games, which show the buttons correctly assigned. Finally, I deleted the updated driver which I downloaded and reverted to my original version by removing the joystick via Gaming Options and then reinstalled the joystick. None of this has worked and I can’t fire the guns nor see different views using the POV Hat. I have Windows 98. Do you have any suggestions that may help? (more…)

Em_exec has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL

When starting up Windows, every now and then I get the error message ‘Em_exec has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL. Em_exec will now close’. What is this about and can it be fixed? I run Windows ME. (more…)
