I bought a Microsoft Optical WheelMouse last week from a Microsoft outlet in Singapore. After installation, I found Windows Explorer does not respond and hangs, and when I try to shut down the computer the screen darkens (like usual) but nothing happens. CTRL-ALT-DELETE in both instances says the program is not responding and I end up having to restart the computer. When I remove the Optical Mouse while the computer is turned off, the normal mouse responds quite well. I repeated the reinstallation but the same thing happens! The troubleshooting guide recommended uninstalling all pointing devices but when I physically remove the Optical Mouse and connect my old mouse, it automatically reverts to the standard mouse driver on Control Panel and the Wheel Mouse driver is inaccessible. Any advice as the Optical Mouse costs ten times a normal mouse! (more…)

Recently I have lost my right button functioning (I’m left handed). I have gone into control panel/mouse but there does not seem to be any subject re this function. I have Windows 95 bought in 97. Recently my computer froze on me and I had to turn it off without shutting down properly. When I switched on again I got a message that because of the way I had switched off I had lost some 76,000 bytes. Could this be the problem?

Two function of my mouse is not working. (i) I cannot use it to drag and drop icons within and between folders. I can right click, double click (ii) When I click to select URL on my mail (Outlook Express), it doesn’t take me anywhere. I cannot right click to cut/copy either. I’m running Windows 98. I have re-installed the mouse driver from disk, but no difference. The mouse works perfectly fine on another machine! The shop that I bought it from suggested re-installing Windows 98! I’d prefer to leave that as the last option. Hope you can help. (more…)

My computer mouse is “dragging”, ie. won’t track properly. I cleaned out some dead files, cleaned the mouse mat. My HD does not need defragmenting, and scandisk says there are no errors. Everything else appears in order. What might be the cause? (more…)

I have recently attached a new Logitech Internet Keyboard but none of the internet keys work. A message appears saying “default browser unsupported or not installed”. How can I fix this? I use Netscape. (more…)
