Recently I purchased a new computer running Windows XP with Office 2007. My previous computer was primarily used for word processing and ran Windows 3.1. I saved all my Word documents on 1.44 MB floppy discs. To my dismay I now find that the new computer with Windows XP will not read these discs. Can you tell me if there is an easy, quick and hopefully cheap way to get the data to transfer from the discs to Windows XP? (more…)

I would like to complete a mail merge using Word 2007, but I cannot figure out how mail merge works. Can you provide advice on how the mail merge functions in this new version of Word? Additionally, my computer has a lot of different folders. I would like to consolidate the number of folders on the computer, but am unsure how to delete these folders. It seems that I have done something to an important Word document which details my home contents for insurance. I have used this document for the past 9 years without mishap. Now whenever I attempt to open the document a message appears saying the document is “Read Only” and a blank Word document appears. I have tried going into the properties of the document file and unticking the “Read Only” box but this did not fix the problem, nor does renaming the file. How can I regain access to this file? Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 is installed on my computer, but the program will not let me open any PDF files. I have attempted to resolve the problem by updating Adobe Reader but I cannot remove the currently installed version through Add/Remove Programs. Can you help, as at the moment Adobe Reader is not useable? (more…)
