  • Adobe Reader Won’t Open Files

    Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 is installed on my computer, but the program will not let me open any PDF files. I have attempted to resolve the problem by updating Adobe Reader but I cannot remove the currently installed version through Add/Remove Programs. Can you help, as at the moment Adobe Reader is not useable? (more…)

  • Adobe Reader Takes Over

    Adobe Reader will not properly install on my computer. After installing the program the icons for several programs (such as Word, Paint, Excel, etc) all change to the Adobe Reader icon and these programs will no longer open, instead producing an error message such as “Adobe Reader could not open mspaint.exe because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged”.     I have recently purchased a new computer running Windows Vista Business Edition. Whenever I open a Microsoft Word email attachment in Word this appears as a mixture of machine language and plain text. How can I get the attachment to display correctly? (more…)

  • Hide text in Word document

    Having written a substantial Word 2003 document I would like to have a portion of the text hidden behind a button which can trigger between showing and hiding this text when the button is clicked. Can this be accomplished in Word? The computer is running Office 2003 with Windows XP. (more…)

  • Highlighted text not replaced in Word

    After highlighting text to be replaced within Word 2003 and typing the replacement text, or using CTRL-V to paste replacement text, the highlighted text is not replaced. Instead, the next text is inserted after the highlighted text. Interestingly enough, this problem also occurred when I had Office 2003 installed on my previous computer, before transferring the software to my current computer. After Office 2003 has been installed on the computer it works properly for a month or so, but then this problem occurs. This does not occur in other programs such as Internet Explorer when typing messages for my Yahoo Mail account. Have I accidentally pressed a wrong button somewhere along the line, which triggers this behaviour, or is there something wrong with my copy of Office? (more…)
