Text Not Printing
By skid on November 22, 2010 in Printer | No Comments
After several years of ownership my Canon PIXMA iP6000D printer will no longer print text, although graphics still print alright. After completing a deep clean and maintenance (including nozzle check) a test page from Windows will only print the Windows logo and no text. Connecting the printer to a different computer produced the same problem, so it does not seem to be computer dependent. I have tried changing the text colour from black to red and it printed the text, albeit in red colour. I then installed a new black ink cartridge, completed a clean, but it still does not output text in black. It seems that the black jet is not getting a signal for some reason. Do you have any other suggestions? (more…)

SolutionCenter Installation
By skid on August 2, 2010 in Printer | No Comments
When Windows Vista starts a dialog box appears advising that SolutionCenter is being installed. Another message box then appears advising that “The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the SolutionCenter disk and click OK. Source: 1”. Unsure of what to do I have been clicking the close button (red X in the top right-hand corner of the message box) which closes the message and produces the following: “The installation package for the product SolutionCenter cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package SolutionCenter”. The computer is a Toshiba Satellite Pro. (more…)

Printing the Last Page First
By skid on December 14, 2009 in Printer | No Comments
Often when printing documents on my Canon Pixma MP600 printer I would like to print the last page first, eliminating the need to re-order the pages once they have printed. However, I am unable to make the printer achieve this behaviour. Can you provide advice on how this could be done? (more…)

Print a few lines then new page
By skid on August 3, 2009 in Printer | No Comments
The Canon MP160 printer connected via USB to my Windows XP computer has recently started to malfunction. Instead of printing an entire page, it prints a few lines on one page, then a few more on the next page, and so on. This can usually be fixed by deleting and then reinstalling the printer, however when I attempt to print a second document it returns to the unusual behaviour. I attempted to diagnose the problem, thinking that it was trigged when printing a web page or PDF file, but it even occurs when printing a Word document. Do you have any suggestions for how this problem could be fixed? (more…)

Printer DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Error
By skid on July 6, 2009 in Printer | No Comments
Occasionally when turning on my HP 3110 printer a balloon appears from the system tray saying “This device can perform faster if you connect it to a USB 2.0 port. Click here for available ports”. Shortly after the computer produces a blue screen of death with the message “DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Technical information: STOP 0×000000D1 (0×00000008, 0×00000002, 0×00000000, 0xF8983509). usbuhci.sys – Address 0xF8983509 base at F8980000”. Reinstalling the printer does not resolve the problem, so at the moment all I can do is turn on the printer and hope this message does not appear. This is obviously not a long-term or satisfactory solution. How can I fix this problem for good? (more…)
