My home LAN consists of a Windows XP machine and a Windows 98 machine. The printer, a Panasonic KX-P6100, is connected to the Windows XP machine and works fine when printing from the Windows XP machine. However, when attempting to print from the computer running Windows 98 everything seems to work ok and the printer spooler on the Windows XP machine activates, but nothing prints! Panasonic advised to reinstall the printer drivers, but this makes no difference. (more…)

  • Disabled Norton Antivirus before printing

No matter which application I am using, unless Norton Antivirus 2001 is disabled before attempting to print, the system crashes with the blue screen of death showing an error code NAVAP(02) +000198DB, Error: OE:OD28:C02F4CBF. Moreover, CTRL-ALT-DEL does not reboot the computer and on pressing enter to ‘Return to Windows’ a further 6 errors occur before the screen goes black. Then, I have no option other than to go for the off switch. A Canon 5000F scanner is plugged into one of the USB ports; this is a new addition and disconnecting it makes no difference. I have also unchecked the Word virus scanner plug-in with Norton but this did not improve matters either. The printer is an HP Deskjet 720C and the computer is a 900 MHz Celeron running Windows ME (with all updates) and Zone Alarm. Any thoughts? (more…)

Every now and again my computer displays the following message: ‘DTOLE caused an invalid page fault in KERNEL32.DLL’. When the message appears I try to close the box but the box remains on the screen. I can continue to do various tasks in the background by moving the box, even though the box remains on the screen. DTOLE appears to be related to my HP printer (OfficeJet Pro 1150C). How can I resolve this problem? A second problem is the ‘Dial-up Connection’ box that regularly appears even though I have not initiated any action to go online. Sometimes the box will appear several times in quick succession. The computer is running Windows 98SE. (more…)

Recently my Canon BJ-200 printer is producing printed text at about half strength of normal printing. This occurs with a new cartridge, even after I have cleaned the head according to the Canon manual. Interestingly, one older letter prints at the normal strength as do printouts from the ‘Help’ menu. I have set the graphics for the printer to the darkest setting. The computer is running Windows 98. Can you help? (more…)

Recently, I bought a new Canon imageCLASS MPC600F multifunction printer. When I installed the drivers, the computer didn’t boot properly. It works as normal until Windows starts, at which stage it automatically reboots and continues in this loop until I press the computer power button. The computer is running Windows XP Professional.
