The Recycling Bin icon has disappeared from the desktop. This problem first occurred a while ago when I logged into Windows and noticed that the icon was missing. I managed to locate the Recycling Bin but the only method to get the icon back to the desktop was to create a shortcut. However, I have now accidentally deleted the icon (again) and forgotten how to find the Recycling Bin’s location again. Would it be possible to recover the Recycling Bin, preferably in the original form not the shortcut form. The computer is running Windows Vista. (more…)

Recently I purchased a new computer with a 750 GB SATA hard drive. I understand that I can partition the hard drive to provide 40 GB as a home folder for Windows Vista, so that if there is a problem I can simply reinstall Vista in that portion of the hard drive without losing my data. However, it is quite expensive if Dell create the partition for me, and I’m told I should be able to do it easily myself. Can you help with this process? (more…)

After upgrading my computer from Windows XP to Windows Vista Home Premium a number of programs no longer work or do not work as well as they did on Windows Vista. Is it possible to run both Windows XP and Vista on the one computer? I plan to add a second internal hard drive for this purpose. However, I have no idea how to setup such a dual-boot system. My laptop computer running Windows Vista Home Premium is unable to automatically or manually check for Windows Vista and Windows Defender updates. I have tried following the various troubleshooting code directions and instructions but nothing appears to work. On a different matter, I have been trying to setup an HP wireless printer to my home ADSL2+ network but without success. Do you have any advice for these two matters? (more…)

Whenever I put my Windows Vista computer into sleep mode it goes through the power down procedure but within 30 – 60 seconds the computer wakes up again. The computer is running Windows Vista Home Basic. (more…)
