Nero has detected that your drive is not in DMA mode PDF Print
Sunday, 04 September 2005

When using Nero to backup a DVD of home movies, a message appears saying: ‘Nero has detected that your drive is not in DMA mode. To improve your system performance, we suggest you enable DMA for all drives’. The computer is running Windows XP, and I was under the impression DMA is turned-on by default in Windows XP? I cannot find any option for enabling DMA when I look at the Properties for the DVD+/-RW drive.

CD drive refuses to open with CD-RW disc PDF Print
Sunday, 13 February 2005

After inserting a rewritable CD (CD-RW) into my ASUS CD writer the drive refuses to open. The green drive light stays on and it sounds like the drive is continuously spinning the disc. However, the computer is able to read and write to the disk without any problem. The only way to open the drive is reboot the computer and press the eject button during reboot. The CD-RW was formatted using InCD. There is also a DVD drive installed which operates normally.

An exception 0E has occurred at 0028:00706100 in VxD scsi1hlp PDF Print
Sunday, 30 January 2005

Whenever a disc is inserted into the computer DVD-ROM drive a blue screen appears saying ‘An exception 0E has occurred at 0028:00706100 in VxD scsi1hlp’. Because of this error I am unable to use any CD or DVD disc. A second problem occurs when loading Microsoft Office applications. It takes up to 10 minutes for the applications to load, and then another 5 minutes to load the actual document. This problem has only recently risen and I have never experienced this before. The computer is a Pentium III 500MHz running Windows 98 and Microsoft Office 2000.

Please insert a disk into drive PDF Print
Sunday, 23 January 2005

About halfway through installing a program from a CD the installer program stopped responding. I ended the task using the task manager, but the program installed in full. However, after this event my CD-ROM drive has become inoperable. Every time I attempt to access the drive a message appears asking ‘Please insert a disk into drive’. Uninstalling and reinstalling the drive has not fixed the problem. The computer is running Windows XP Home and the CD drive is a Benq.

Not reading all parts of CD PDF Print
Sunday, 24 October 2004

To my computer running Windows XP I have recently added a DVD burner in addition to the CD burner already installed. The other day I bought a multi-format CD, being a music CD that also includes software and a video. Using my work PC, Windows Explorer displays the files and directory structure on the CD, but does not display any audio tracks. On the other hand, Windows Explorer on my home PC can only read the audio tracks, and no other information. How can I view the video?
