My printer all of a sudden does not print any more even though I have done nothing to change its settings. It does print a test page when pressing a combination of buttons on the printer panel but will not print a Windows test page (which is prompted to be printed after installing the printer driver). The computer always comes back saying the printer is not connected. All cables are connected and all the lights on the printer are on.

I recently deleted some wallpaper files. Now every time I bootup this message appears: ‘Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run Windows or a Windows application. The Windows Registry or SYSTEM.INI file refers to this device file, but the device file no longer exists. If you deleted this file on purpose, try uninstalling the application using its uninstall or setup program. If you still want to use the application associated with this device file, try reinstalling the application to replace the missing file. Press a key to continue. C:SYSTEMVMM32Hpzio100.vxd’. Everything seems to be running just fine apart from the above annoying message on bootup. I have reinstalled Windows 98 and tried to get the file back through the System File Checker but I can't find anything like it. What do you advise?

On opening Microsoft Outlook the following error appears: ‘Spool32 has caused an error in . Spool32 will now close. If you continue to experience problems try restarting your computer.’. Most of the time this message pops up twice and selecting the OK button takes the messages away and no further problems appear. However, there are a significant number of times where the message appears and my machine simply locks-up and I have to reboot my PC. The locking-up when it does occur, usually results in the next 3-4 reboots also locking-up as soon as I open Outlook and by the 5th time I'm back working. I have a PIII 500 running Windows ME using MS Office 2000 and Outlook 2000. I have tried reloading Outlook, Office 2000, downloading and installing new printer drivers (because I was told it was a printer problem) and nothing seems to fix the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated as it took 3 reboots just to send this message.

Some time ago you answered a problem about not being able to print from Internet Explorer using either the file menu or the printer icon. Recently I upgraded my computer to Windows Me with Internet Explorer 5.5. Since the upgrade I can no longer print from Internet Explorer. I can’t locate your response in the Canberra Times archives. Can you please help?

I have a problem with printing from the scanner. I have a Compaq 3200-17, a Canon BJC-2100SP printer, and a Canon N340P scanner. I have no trouble printing off the screen and the print is perfect. Likewise, I can scan onto the screen. However, when I try to print from the scanner the print is very faint, whether black and white or colour. One reason why I acquired the scanner was to use it as a photocopier.. I have not found anything in the instruction manual to overcome this and have spent a lot of time trying to do so. Can you suggest anything?
